If you have already had a bed bug treatment that did not last, the failure almost certainly happened before the technician started - in the preparation phase. Our protocol in Thibodaux addresses every harborage zone before any product is applied.
Why Treatments Succeed or Fail
These are the four pillars of a bed bug protocol that produces verified clearance - not just reduced activity.
Three days before treatment, your technician walks you through a customized preparation checklist: what to move, what to bag, where to clear harborage zones. A treatment that starts on an unprepared space is a treatment that will need repeating.
We offer both heat and chemical protocols, selected based on your property type, infestation extent, and whether adjacent units are involved. Both approaches target all life stages; heat treatment provides same-session elimination while chemical protocol builds a residual barrier.
A treatment that covers the mattress but misses the outlet plate behind the headboard is not a complete treatment. We reach every harborage zone - that thoroughness is what separates a single-treatment result from a recurring problem.
Clearance is confirmed, not assumed. Your follow-up inspection reviews interceptor data, re-checks all harborage zones, and produces a clearance note you can keep for documentation.
Understanding the Problem
Bed bugs are uniquely difficult to eliminate for reasons that go beyond their small size. The egg stage is chemically resistant - contact insecticides that kill adult bed bugs on contact will not penetrate the eggshell. Nymphs in the pupal stage can survive months without feeding, lying dormant in harborage zones until conditions become favorable again. Adult bed bugs have developed behavioral resistance to pyrethroids in many populations, avoiding treated surfaces instead of crossing them. When a partial treatment disturbs a colony without eliminating it, the remaining population disperses into adjacent rooms, making a contained problem a whole-unit problem. Understanding this biology is the starting point for building a protocol that actually works in Thibodaux.
Preparation is the phase of bed bug treatment that most homeowners underestimate - and the phase that most service providers do not walk clients through in adequate detail. Clearing the bed is the beginning. The complete preparation required for an effective treatment includes: floor perimeter cleared of all items so baseboards can be treated, all clothing and soft goods from drawers bagged and sealed, all nightstand and dresser interiors emptied, outlet covers removed from the wall adjacent to the bed, and vacuum of mattress, box spring seams, and carpet edges completed (the vacuuming step is critical because it mechanically ruptures dormant egg cases, converting the passive egg population into hatchlings that will contact the treatment residual). A preparation checklist that covers all of these elements is the document Show Me Pest Control provides and walks through with every client before the treatment appointment.

Thermal heat treatment eliminates all bed bug life stages by raising the treatment zone temperature above 120 degrees Fahrenheit for a sustained period. Eggs, nymphs, and adults all die at this temperature. The protocol challenge is achieving this temperature uniformly throughout the entire treatment zone - including inside furniture joints, behind outlet plates, inside closets, and in any area where harborage zones may exist. Equipment is staged to create circulation patterns that eliminate cold spots. Temperature sensors are monitored throughout. When preparation is complete and equipment is properly staged, heat treatment is the fastest single-session elimination method available. When preparation is incomplete and furniture blocks heat circulation, heat treatment fails the same way chemical treatment fails - at the harborage zones that were never reached.
The multi-unit and shared-wall property treatment presents a set of challenges that single-unit treatment does not. In an apartment building or hotel, bed bugs do not respect unit boundaries - they travel through shared wall voids, plumbing penetrations, and electrical conduit runs. A treatment that eliminates the infestation in one unit while ignoring adjacent units treats the symptom without the source. Proper multi-unit protocol in Thibodaux includes adjacent unit inspection (at minimum the units directly above, below, and to either side), coordinated treatment scheduling that prevents dispersal into untreated units during the treatment process, and documentation that is structured for property management records. Airbnb operators have an additional consideration: the Airbnb damage claim process requires documentation of a pre-treatment inspection, treatment performed, and post-treatment clearance report within specific timelines. Show Me Pest Control provides this documentation as a standard component of every short-term rental treatment protocol.
What We Provide
Before every treatment, a preparation assessment maps the property's harborage zones and produces a customized checklist reviewed with the client prior to the appointment. No generic handouts.
Call to Schedule
Sustained heat above 120 degrees Fahrenheit penetrates every harborage zone and eliminates all life stages including eggs in a single treatment session. Equipment is staged for uniform heat distribution throughout the treatment zone.

IGR-based chemical protocol stops the reproductive cycle at the egg and pupal stage while contact residual addresses the active population. Continued residual protection is what makes chemical protocol effective for adjacent-unit and multi-room infestations.
Call to Schedule
For apartment buildings and short-term rental operators in Thibodaux - adjacent unit inspection, coordinated treatment, and platform-ready documentation including inspection baseline, treatment records, and clearance report.
Call to Schedule
Bed bug interceptor devices placed under furniture legs provide data on residual population activity between treatment and the follow-up visit. Catch data is reviewed at follow-up and compared against the pre-treatment baseline to confirm population trend.
Call to Schedule
Post-treatment clearance documentation produced when all monitoring data confirms the infestation is eliminated. Written clearance note available for landlord notification, insurance records, or rental platform requirements.
Call to ScheduleThe Process
Your phone call begins the assessment - we document the infestation history, affected rooms, prior treatment attempts, and property layout before scheduling.
Your property-specific preparation checklist is sent and reviewed by phone before the appointment. We confirm that every preparation step is completed - because a treatment that begins on an unprepared space is one that will need to be repeated.
The protocol selected in the assessment is applied in full - every harborage zone accessed, every identified location treated, interceptors placed before the technician departs.
Scheduled before the technician leaves. The return visit reviews interceptor catch data, re-inspects all harborage zones, and either confirms clearance or identifies any residual activity requiring additional treatment. Clearance documentation is issued when the data confirms zero live activity.
Client Outcomes in Thibodaux
I had two previous treatments from two different companies in Thibodaux. Neither one lasted more than three weeks. When Show Me Pest Control came in, the technician identified exactly what had gone wrong with both: a cluttered bedroom floor and untreated outlet plates. They did the prep walk-through with me, we cleared everything properly, and one treatment with proper preparation cleared the infestation. I have been clear for four months.
As an Airbnb host in Thibodaux, the documentation is as critical as the treatment itself. Show Me Pest Control provided the inspection baseline, treatment record, and clearance documentation in exactly the format the platform requires for damage claims. Treatment was within 48 hours of my call. Professional from start to finish.
I had been sleeping on the couch for three weeks. My landlord said the unit had been treated, but I was still finding evidence. Show Me Pest Control came in and found the harborage zones the first treatment had missed - the entire interior of the box spring frame and the outlet plate on the wall directly behind the headboard. One proper treatment, follow-up two weeks later confirmed clearance. I have been back in my bedroom for two months.
Common Questions
Three factors account for most treatment failures: preparation gaps (cluttered floor perimeters, untreated outlets, furniture blocking access), protocol limitations (contact spray without IGR leaves eggs viable), and missing follow-up (no data confirming population has cleared). Our technicians in Thibodaux review these factors during a post-failure assessment and build a protocol that addresses each one before treatment begins.
In most cases, no. Mattress disposal is almost never necessary for a properly executed bed bug treatment. Heat treatment eliminates all life stages on a mattress in place. Chemical protocol treats the mattress seams and surface as part of the harborage zone inspection. After treatment, a quality mattress encasement seals the treated surface and allows for ongoing monitoring. The decision to discard a mattress may be appropriate if the mattress is heavily damaged or the client prefers replacement, but the treatment outcome does not depend on it. Disposing of a mattress without treating the rest of the room and harborage zones simply relocates an untreated infestation - the bugs in the box spring, headboard, and baseboards remain.
Preparation for bed bug treatment in Thibodaux includes clearing floor perimeters, washing and bagging all bedding and clothing, emptying furniture, removing outlet covers near sleeping areas, and vacuuming mattress seams and carpet edges. Show Me Pest Control provides a property-specific checklist and reviews it with every client by phone before the appointment - call +1-866-315-0243 to schedule and we will walk through everything before the treatment date.
Timeline depends on the protocol. Heat treatment eliminates everything present in a single session. Chemical protocol with IGR works over 2-4 weeks as residual contacts newly hatched nymphs. The follow-up inspection at 2-3 weeks confirms clearance. Most single-unit infestations treated with full preparation clear after one treatment plus follow-up. Call +1-866-315-0243 for a specific timeline based on your situation.
Neither method is universally better - the correct choice depends on your property and infestation. Heat treatment is the fastest single-session option and eliminates all life stages without residual chemical exposure - it is well-suited for single rooms, hotel rooms, and situations where the infestation is contained to a specific space. Chemical protocol with IGR is better suited for multi-unit properties, situations where heat staging is difficult, and infestations that have spread to adjacent spaces, because the residual provides protection against re-introduction over a period of weeks. Some situations call for a combination approach. Show Me Pest Control assesses your specific property and infestation before recommending a protocol - call +1-866-315-0243 to discuss.
The follow-up inspection at 2-3 weeks reviews interceptor catch data and re-inspects all harborage zones. Clearance is issued when both the interceptors and the visual inspection confirm zero active evidence. Show Me Pest Control provides a written clearance note when the data supports it - clearance is not declared on the day of treatment, it is confirmed at the follow-up.
